Kira Doxtator is an Anishinaabe, Oneida, and Dakota director and independent producer based in Vancouver on the traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. She is a 2024 graduate of the University of British Columbia’s BA in Cinema Studies, with a minor in Indigenous Studies.
Kira was the recipient of the 2024 imagineNATIVE Originals 16mm Film Mentorship in partnership with LIFT, through which she produced and directed her short film The Fourth World Problems Collective in Toronto. In 2023, she received the Indigenous Filmmaker Bursary from Vancouver Film Studios and Pacific Backlot to produce and direct her debut short, a poem for my future, which premiered at NFFTY in 2024.
Alongside her creative work, Kira brings extensive experience in youth arts programming, community-based initiatives, and organizational leadership, and currently serves as the youngest Board Member of the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network. As a junior producer, she is focused on supporting meaningful, well-executed productions that advance Indigenous and underrepresented voices, while building her slate through her emerging company, Native Key Creative.

My filmmaking practice spans over five years, encompassing both student and professional productions across multiple formats — with a focus on producing, directing, and community-rooted storytelling.

I’m a model with experience in fashion shows in Vancouver and Santa Fe, and select commercial work with fashion brands, public institutions, and creative partners.
Youth Facilitator
I have over eight years of experience developing and delivering youth workshops rooted in creativity, mentorship, and community engagement.
