short film
the fourth world problems collective
Commissioned on behalf of ImagineNATIVE as part of their ImagineNATIVE Originals program in 2025, and in partnership with the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT). I wrote the adapted screenplay from a short story by Leanne Simpson for this project, and obtained the rights to produce it into a short film.
I also directed and helped produce the film. I am proud of this film because of all the hard work it took, and I could never have done it without all the support I received from everyone who worked on it with me. This project was important to me in my career because I wanted to direct more films and practice my skills, try shooting on 16mm, and adapt an already-written story into a film.
It premiered at ImagineNATIVE 2025 and also screened at the Indigenous Youth Roots Gathering screening night in Whitehorse UK in July 2025, as well as the Rendezvous with Madness Festival 2025 opening night. The film will be available soon publicly, but you can message me for the link to watch.

I was very grateful to have this project I pitched awarded the Indigenous Filmmaker Bursary from Vancouver Film Studios and Pacific Backlot in 2023. It is a dramatic, poetic film that follows Bea, a curious young Indigenous woman who grew up in the city, who has always been very self-aware. One day, she experiences a simple push from the universe that opens her eyes to the interconnectedness of everything.
The goal of the film was to show how simple it is to tune into the present, and connect yourself to the environment around you to be more empathetic towards one another. To look at the world with wonder, like in a child’s eyes. My intended audience is anyone who has felt that lingering feeling that the forest and the natural world has spoken to them before, that there’s a level of connection they haven’t yet made.
I also want to make this film for urban natives like me who have felt that disconnection. I want both of these kinds of audiences to learn that we carry this knowledge in our bodies and we just need to find a way to tap in, and be present, in order to channel it.
